The highest point of the island, Pico da Esperança, is another place not to be missed, with about 1053 meters high, from where you can see the remaining islands of the central group. The Ponta do Topo islet, where birds nest and during the summer, cows swim to the islet to graze, a town also known for the quality of its cheeses.
